The Bacon County Emergency Management Agency receives funding from Homeland Security and is tasked with addressing natural and people-caused disasters. The agency responds to floods, hurricanes, wildfires, suspicious bomb threats or activity, and mass or school shootings.
Through the Bacon County Emergency Management Agency, Bacon County and the City of Alma have been able to access resources available through several state and federal sources that have been instrumental in improving the technical capabilities of the communities to more effectively mitigate hazards and provide more accurate warning and preparatory information to citizens of impending emergencies and information for recovery afterward.
